American hosts are an essential part of the program and are the key to a successful program for a trainee or intern. Hosts are expected to implement a well-rounded program geared to the needs of the individual participant. In addition, hosts must either provide housing or assist in finding suitable housing.
There is no host application fee, but hosts are asked to advance $200 per applicant selected to cover government fees. The money advanced is to be reimbursed by the intern or trainee after the program begins. The program is a work-experience training program, hosts are expected to both provide meaningful, practical training, and to make monetary payments while trainees and interns are assigned to their agriculture enterprises. Host will be send a monthly invoice. If the invoice or trainee is placed on payroll the host must make an authorized monthly deduction from the participant to cover WFE's program fee.
